ALLEGIANT AIR MCDONNELL DOUGLAS MD80 PLANETAG TAIL# N892GA
A piece of the Mad Dog. Cut from the fuselage of Allegiant Air McDonnell Douglas MD-80, registration N892GA, made to mark the type's retirement from the fleet.
The aircraft
Allegiant built its business on the MD-80. From 1999 the type was central to a low cost model that connected smaller American cities directly to holiday destinations, and over nearly twenty years that fleet carried more than 80 million passengers.
Crews called the MD-80 the Mad Dog, and the nickname stuck well beyond the flight deck. When Allegiant moved to an all Airbus fleet, these tags were commissioned to mark the end of that era.
