The aircraft
The Black Hawk came out of a US Army requirement in the early 1970s to replace the ageing UH-1 Huey. Sikorsky's UH-60 beat Boeing Vertol's YUH-61A and went on to become the backbone of Army aviation, a medium lift utility helicopter capable of operating day or night, in bad weather and in poor conditions.
The EH-60A was a specialised variant fitted for electronic warfare rather than general transport. This airframe was built as an EH-60A in 1987.
Most of what it did remains classified. What is known is that it served in the Gulf War.
