EASTERN®- DC-8-21 TAIL # N8609 - Various Partial Colours
A genuine PlaneTag with an off centre paint break. Cut from the fuselage of Douglas DC-8-21 registration N8609, and sold as a Partial Tag because the colour split does not sit where the standard release requires. Nothing about the metal is different. Only the position of the cut.
Because the paint break falls in an unrepeated place on each piece, no two Partial Tags carry the same pattern. What you receive is the only one like it.
The aircraft
N8609 joined Eastern Air Lines in October 1960 and flew the airline's routes for fourteen years. Eastern was the launch customer for the DC-8-21 and marketed it as their first jet, putting it on the long non stop runs from New York and Chicago down to Miami, Mexico City and Bermuda. Only thirty three of this variant were ever built, and Eastern operated sixteen of them.
After a brief period with Air Caledonia the aircraft was retired and sat in storage for decades before MotoArt recovered it in 2021.
Choosing the Partial option
The colours named in the option are indicative only. The exact position, proportion and shape of the paint break on the tag you receive will differ from the photograph. That is the nature of the product, not a fault.
What you receive
- One Partial Tag cut from the actual fuselage of N8609
- Attached metal ring, strong enough for keys or luggage
- Mounted on its display card
Please read before ordering
PlaneTags are cut from real aircraft skin, not stamped from new metal. Each one carries the paint, thickness and wear of the exact section it came from. Marks and variation are the point, not a fault. Colour cannot be selected and the photographs are a guide only.
