A piece of an aircraft being restored, and your purchase helps pay for it. Cut from the Flagship Tulsa, a Douglas DC-3 with serial NC-18141.

The aircraft

Built in 1939 for American Airlines' Flagship fleet, this DC-3 carried passengers for over half a century. After American it flew for Trans Texas Airways, Air New England, Provincetown Boston Airlines, and finally Aero Liberated in Mexico.

It was grounded in 1994 and stored in Wisconsin until 2008, when it was sold and donated to the Tulsa Air and Space Museum. It is under restoration there now.

The DC-3 is arguably the most important airliner ever built. It was the first aircraft that let airlines make money carrying passengers rather than mail, and surviving examples are still flying nearly ninety years on.
