The aircraft

Built in 1965 and delivered to Lufthansa as D-ABUF. That was the ordinary part of its life.

In 1984 it began a second career with Miami based Lowa Limited as a private charter jet, re registered N88ZL and refitted with an executive cabin. For the next two decades it moved musicians, performers and heads of state around the world. Its passenger list includes former US President Bill Clinton, Hugh Hefner, Fleetwood Mac, the Bee Gees, Pearl Jam, Bryan Adams and Beyoncé, and it served as the tour aircraft for both The Eagles and Bon Jovi.

The 707 itself was Boeing's first jetliner. It flew in 1957 and dominated long haul passenger travel through the 1960s and into the 1970s, effectively opening the jet age to ordinary travellers.
